Pricing is the first question behind any link building plan: how much does a backlink cost in 2026, and what does it cost to use a marketplace to buy one? On LinkBooster, the price index is built from 227,736 available sites, so the figures below come from real listings rather than guesses. Here is how prices break down by authority and by country, and how to turn them into a realistic budget.

Average backlink price in 2026: the catalog price index

There is no single price for a backlink, so a median is more useful than a plain average. The index below shows the 25th percentile, the median and the 75th percentile for an article including the link, excluding VAT, grouped by authority (DR or DA). Half of the sites in each tier cost less than the median, and a quarter cost more than the 75th percentile.

Authority 0–19 (162,709 sites): 69 / 139 / 335 €. Authority 20–29 (17,874 sites): 76 / 152 / 375 €. Authority 30–39 (15,921 sites): 107 / 257 / 575 €. Authority 40–49 (10,524 sites): 119 / 257 / 699 €. Authority 50–59 (12,321 sites): 81 / 195 / 500 €. Authority 60–69 (3,939 sites): 119 / 410 / 1,377 €. Authority 70+ (4,448 sites): 335 / 1,224 / 3,378 €.

Two things stand out. Prices do not rise in a perfectly straight line: the 50–59 tier has a lower median (195 €) than the 30–39 and 40–49 tiers (257 €), because the country, the language and the niche of the site weigh as much as the authority score. Above DR 60, however, the spread widens sharply, and the top tier reaches a median of 1,224 €. For a deeper method to estimate what a link is worth, see our guide on backlink prices in 2026 and link value.

Backlink pricing by country

Country is one of the biggest drivers of the price tag. These are the median prices from the index for the largest markets: France 105 € (124,916 sites), United States 191 € (14,054 sites), Germany 731 € (13,715 sites), Poland 122 € (8,871 sites), Netherlands 500 € (7,187 sites), Italy 432 € (6,846 sites), United Kingdom 238 € (5,607 sites), Ukraine 47 € (5,398 sites), Spain 288 € (5,011 sites), India 123 € (4,640 sites), Czechia 99 € (2,629 sites) and Canada 350 € (2,357 sites).

The gap is large: the median in Germany is about seven times the French one, and Ukraine is the cheapest of the list at 47 €. A low median does not mean lower quality, and a high one does not guarantee results. What matters is whether the site's language and audience match the market you want to rank in.

If you target several markets, browse the backlinks by theme and by country pages to compare listings, and read our guide to international SEO and backlinks before splitting a budget across countries.

What makes the price of a link go up or down

Five factors explain most of the variation. Authority comes first: a site with a strong DR or DA can ask for more, as the index shows. Estimated traffic comes next, since a link on a page that real readers visit is worth more than one on a site nobody reads. Topic matters too: finance, business or tech sites often price differently from general lifestyle blogs.

The fourth factor is whether the article is included. Prices in the index include the article. You can supply your own text or order the writing as an option, and the second route naturally adds to the bill. The fifth factor is the country and language of the site, as seen above.

Each site listing shows authority, estimated traffic, topic, country, language, price and link type before you order, so you can weigh these criteria yourself. If you wonder which metric to trust, our article on Trust Flow, Domain Authority and DR explains their strengths and limits. Keep in mind that no metric guarantees a ranking on Google.

The hidden costs of links that are too cheap

A very low price can be perfectly legitimate: the 25th percentile starts at 69 € for low-authority sites and at 47 € median in some markets. The problem begins when a price sits far below what comparable sites ask, with no explanation. In that case, the real cost often shows up later.

Typical hidden costs include links on networks built only to sell links, pages with no real traffic, articles that get deleted after a few months, or sites in an unrelated niche that bring no relevance. Google does not publish a list of banned sites, but it does fight manipulative link schemes, and a profile full of low-quality links can be discounted or, in the worst cases, lead to a manual action. The risk is real without being systematic.

Learn the warning signs in our article on spotting PBNs and link farms. Checking a site's traffic, topic and link type before paying is the cheapest insurance you can buy. On our side, payment is held by the platform until publication, and if the article is not published within the deadline, the client is refunded. Announced delivery times range from 7 to 30 days.

Monthly budget examples built from the index

These examples use the index ranges as an illustration. They are not guarantees of results, and actual prices depend on the sites you pick.

Small site or local business: one or two articles a month on sites with authority 20–29 or 30–39. Using medians of 152 € and 257 €, this gives roughly 150 to 500 € per month, depending on the mix. Staying in a market with a low median, such as France, keeps the budget at the lower end. Our link building strategy for small business lays out the steps.

SMB with a competitive niche: three or four articles a month on authority 30–49 sites. At a median of 257 € per article, four articles come to about 1,030 € per month. Choosing sites in the 75th percentile, at 575 € to 699 €, would raise the budget considerably, so selecting by topic and traffic is key.

E-commerce: a mix of volume and a few strong placements. For example, three articles in the 30–49 range (about 770 € at the median) and one on a DR 60–69 site (median 410 €) total about 1,180 € per month. A single 70+ placement at the median of 1,224 € would match that entire budget, so decide whether one prestige link or several relevant ones suits your goals. Our link building strategy for 2026 helps with that choice.

Free account, Pro plan or link building subscription: which to choose

The free account has no subscription. You can see the catalog and order articles one by one, which suits occasional needs or a first test. You can start from the buy backlinks page, and the how it works page explains the order flow.

The Pro plan gives a 10 % discount on every purchase. It makes sense if you order regularly but want to keep full control over each site you choose. With a 257 € article, the discount saves about 25.70 €, and the saving grows with volume.

The link building subscription suits teams that want a steady rhythm without picking every site themselves. Essentiel includes 2 articles per month, DR 20+ minimum, at 329 € excl. VAT per month. Croissance includes 4 articles, DR 30+ minimum, at 1,090 € excl. VAT per month. Autorité includes 6 articles, DR 40+ minimum, at 2,290 € excl. VAT per month. In every plan, you validate the list of sites before any purchase, you get a monthly report, and the commitment is 6 or 12 months. See the full details on the link building subscription plans page.

Publishers have their own side: registration is free, the publisher sets the price, can refuse an order and is paid after publication. If you own a site, the page to sell links and guest posts explains how it works. LinkBooster is published by Novatis Agency.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a backlink cost on average?

It depends on the authority of the site. In our index, the median price including the article is 139 € for DR/DA 0–19, 257 € for 30–39 and 1,224 € for 70+. Prices are excl. VAT, and the real figure varies with country, topic and traffic.

Why are some backlinks so expensive?

High prices usually reflect strong authority, real traffic, a sought-after topic or a market such as Germany, where the median is 731 €. Top sites, authority 70+, have a 75th percentile of 3,378 €. A high price still does not guarantee a ranking, so check each listing before ordering.

Is the account free?

Yes. You can create a free account with no subscription to view the catalog and place orders. The Pro plan is optional and gives a 10 % discount on each purchase.

What payment methods are accepted?

We do not list payment methods here, so please check them at checkout or contact our team before ordering. What we can confirm is that your payment is held by the platform until publication, with a refund if the article is not published within the deadline.

Are the prices excl. VAT?

Yes, the index prices and the subscription plans are shown excl. VAT. The index prices include the article itself. If you order the writing as an option, it adds to the total.
